Devices are cheap (or getting there), the content is good which begs the question – why are we still buying textbooks?

With state and and school district budgets under stress and visions of our past with students using out-of-date textbooks that are falling apart, will digital textbooks and collaborative apps with rich social features come to the rescue? Which apps and content libraries do you see pushing the envelope and gaining traction in classrooms?
